Adéyínká “Muhammad” Mendes (Adé) is an Imam, scholar, author, translator of Arabic Islamic literature, and institution builder devoted to cultivating spiritually grounded individuals, strong families, and thriving communities. For more than two decades, he has worked at the intersection of classical Islamic scholarship, Black Muslim intellectual traditions, leadership formation, and community development.
He is the founder of Marhama Village International and the Hero’s Journey Umrah & Rites of Passage Leadership Program, and co-founder of the African-American Healing, Ancestry, and Development (AHAD) Collective and the Muslim-Indigenous Circle. Drawing upon the Qur’an, the Prophetic tradition, and Indigenous American and West African wisdom, his work advances spiritual formation, rites of passage, land stewardship, family renewal, and generational institution-building.
